End of Year School News

23/06/2020

Dear Parent,

I hope that you are well! Today brings a close to a very different school year.  I don’t believe any of us could have predicted last March  the unprecedented few months we would have and I don’t think we will forget 2019/2020 for a while.  On March 12th all of our worlds were thrown upside down. It has been difficult, challenging and at times frightening.

However, I am very proud of the way everyone in our school community rallied and did their very best to support each other and to maintain a good standard of teaching and learning for our students. Thank you to the students who engaged so well and did their best in the new strange environment of ‘Remote Learning’. Thank you to the parents who had to organise and lead the learning at home as well as juggle the many other day to day jobs and responsibilities. Thank you to the staff who worked so hard to continuously find the most suitable ways to encourage, guide and support our 137 families. Well done everyone on a super job!

Obviously, we are still waiting to hear details of how schools will reopen. This will make for a busy summer with a lot of planning etc. However, as soon as the school gets confirmation from the D.E.S., I will be contacting you with all details of our plans for the 2020/2021 school year. We will be ready!

I know you will join me in wishing our 6th class students well as they move on to secondary school. They have been a fantastic group during their time in Spa N.S. and have shared lots of lovely memories with us. I wish them every health, happiness and success in the years ahead! Here is a short video clip to wish them well.

I would like to thank and pay tribute to our caretaker Mr. Pat Cotter who will be stepping down from his position at the end of the summer. Pat has been the ‘unsung hero’ to Spa N.S. for over thirty years. In that time, he has worked so hard’ behind the scenes’ to ensure that Spa N.S. was always ready and presented to the highest possible standard.  No job was ever too big or too small for Pat and every job was done to perfection. We will miss him terribly but I would like to wish him and his darling wife Ann lots of health and happiness in retirement.

Finally, I would like to wish you all a very happy, healthy and safe summer! Please find pasted here a short video to celebrate the end of our school year.

I hope you enjoy it!

Kind Regards
