School Choir

The Spa N.S. School Choir was founded in January 2013 and is led by teacher Ms. O Donoghue.

Every year boys and girls from the senior classes are invited to join the choir. Then they get down working with Miss. O Donoghue learning the ropes and exploring songs and musical pieces they might like to perform together as a group. They come together for practise every week with one aim – to develop their talents in singing. Everyone loves choir practice as the school is always filled with beautiful music and singing at that time.

The choir perform for assemblies and other school functions during the school year. They also lead the larger school choir for special events like First Holy Communion, Confirmation and the annual school mass.

Spa N.S. choirs have also been invited to a number of different choral events in the county. They have participated regularly in the annual Kerry School Choirs Showcase. They have also performed in the ‘Sing Out Loud’ concert in the I.N.E.C. in Killarney where certain schools from all over Munster were invited to perform individually before coming together to perform on stage under the direction local conductor Gemma Sugrue. The choir has also attended the Peace Proms showcase in Limerick.

The Spa N.S. choir has continued to flourish since its beginning in 2013. A huge amount of time and practice has been invested by the students, Miss O Donoghue and music teacher Miss O Mahony. It’s wonderful to see these students get the opportunity to develop and showcase their talents.
